Location: Charlotte NC
Initially working on a project in Lebanon, Indiana until Feb 27 (10 days onsite, 4 from home, 2 week work pattern)
Project: Major Pharmaceutical Construction & Installation Project
We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager / HSE Lead to take a key role on a major pharmaceutical construction and installation project initially in Lebanon, Indiana.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines strong project/site management experience with a robust HSE background and is comfortable working in a highly regulated pharmaceutical or industrial environment.
You’ll work closely with the client, General Contractor and internal project teams, coordinating site activities across a workforce of approximately 25–30 personnel, including millwrights, welders, electricians, commissioning and qualification specialists and other trades.
The Role
You’ll play a hands-on role in coordinating day-to-day project activities while maintaining a strong focus on HSE, quality, productivity and successful project delivery.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate day-to-day site activities and ensure work progresses safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.
- Act as a key point of contact between the project team, client, GC and contractors.
- Coordinate multiple trades and subcontractors across installation, commissioning and qualification activities.
- Monitor project progress, site resources, manpower and scheduling.
- Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, client and project-specific requirements.
- Conduct site inspections, safety observations, audits and compliance reviews.
- Manage contractor and subcontractor safety performance.
- Oversee permit-to-work activities including LOTO, confined space, hot work, rigging/lifting, electrical safety and work at height.
- Lead orientations, toolbox talks, safety meetings and ongoing site training.
- Support commissioning, startup and qualification activities.
- Investigate incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain project, HSE, permit and compliance documentation.
- Work closely with the client and GC to resolve site issues and keep activities moving.
- Exercise stop-work authority where unsafe conditions or practices are identified.
- Support environmental compliance, waste management and site housekeeping.
- Help ensure the project is delivered safely, on schedule and to the required quality standards.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in construction, industrial, pharmaceutical, life sciences, highly regulated or similar project environments.
- Previous experience in a Project Manager, Site Manager, Construction Manager, Superintendent or HSE leadership position.
- Experience working on pharmaceutical, life sciences, semiconductor, data centre or other highly regulated/complex construction projects.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
- Experience coordinating contractors, subcontractors and multiple trades.
- Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and high-risk construction activities.
- Strong organisational, communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work directly with clients, GCs and project stakeholders.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.
- CHST, ASP, CSP, OSHA 500 or equivalent certification preferred.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
Why Consider It?
This is a high-visibility project role offering the opportunity to take ownership of site activities on a major pharmaceutical project while working alongside experienced construction, commissioning and qualification teams.
The position would suit someone who has progressed beyond a purely safety-focused role and wants to combine project management, site coordination and HSE leadership in a technically demanding environment.
Competitive salary based on experience + comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, PTO, holidays and additional benefits.
