Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Technician serves as a key member of the treatment team, ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and engagement of clients throughout their treatment experience. Responsibilities include monitoring client activities, assisting with admissions and orientations, facilitating transportation, supporting daily programming, and maintaining a structured therapeutic environment.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, sound judgment, and a genuine passion for helping others achieve recovery.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with clients.
  • Assist with admissions, orientations, and intake procedures.
  • Provide clear communication and support to clients during the admission process.
  • Monitor client wellbeing and promptly report changes in physical, emotional, or behavioral status to clinical staff.
  • Conduct regular headcounts and maintain awareness of client locations throughout the facility.
  • Facilitate orientation groups and encourage participation in treatment programming.
  • Assist with client transportation as needed.
  • Support clients experiencing emotional distress and assist with de-escalation efforts.
  • Monitor and supervise family visits in accordance with facility policies.
  • Assist nursing staff during medication pass when appropriate.
  • Complete all required documentation, shift reports, and checklists accurately and timely.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety throughout the facility.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
  • Protect client confidentiality and maintain compliance with HIPAA and all applicable regulations.
  • Exercise sound judgment and seek supervisory support when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass required background screenings and drug testing.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Current CDCA (Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant) certification in the State of Ohio.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred
  • One (1) year of experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, mental health services, healthcare, or a related field.
  • Relevant college coursework in psychology, social work, counseling, criminal justice, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with individuals in recovery or behavioral health settings.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to respond appropriately during emergency situations.
  • Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout overnight shifts.
