Role Description The Prepress Technician role is a full-time, on-site position based in Paterson, NJ. This role is responsible for preparing digital files for print production, including preflighting artwork, adjusting layouts, and ensuring that all graphics and text meet printing specifications. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing client files for accuracy, performing color correction and image adjustment, setting up files for various printing methods, and collaborating with designers, account managers, and press operators to resolve file-related issues. The Prepress Technician also checks proofs, identifies potential printing challenges, and maintains workflows that support consistent quality and timely production.
Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess skills in Print Production and Printing to ensure accurate setup and execution of jobs across different print processes.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Preflight and Pre-press to review, correct, and prepare digital files for efficient, high-quality printing.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Graphics to work with design files, adjust layouts, and optimize images for print.
  • Experience with industry-standard design and prepress software (such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and PDF tools) is highly beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills are important for success in this role.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in a print shop, prepress environment, or related field, and a high school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in printing or graphic arts is a plus.
