Position Summary


The Food Programs Coordinator plays an important role in ensuring that Tri-Lakes Cares' neighbors continue to have reliable access to nutritious food. This position focuses on the day-to-day logistics that keep TLC's Market, Pantry, Snack Pack, and other food programs well supplied, organized, and operating efficiently.


Reporting to the Director of Programs & Services, this role emphasizes food procurement, inventory management, purchasing, vendor coordination, and operational support. Strategic program leadership, budgeting oversight, and overall program direction remain with the Director of Programs & Services, allowing this position to focus on dependable daily operations while helping ensure neighbors continue to receive the high level of service they expect from Tri-Lakes Cares.


This is a temporary, part-time, on-site position based in Monument, Colorado. The duration of this assignment will depend upon organizational needs.


Food Procurement & Inventory Management

  • Monitor, track, and maintain appropriate inventory levels for the Market and Pantry.
  • Order food and supplies from approved vendors while managing purchases within established budget guidelines.
  • Coordinate food deliveries, donations, and community food pickups.
  • Coordinate Buy It Forward campaigns by partnering with local grocery stores, volunteers, and community members to encourage ongoing food donations that support TLC's Market.
  • Ensure donated and purchased food is handled, stored, rotated, and monitored to maintain quality, minimize waste, and support food safety requirements.
  • Maintain inventory records and support operational reporting.


Food Programs & Operations

  • Work collaboratively with volunteer Market Leaders to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Help ensure the Market is clean, organized, well stocked, and ready to serve neighbors by proactively identifying and addressing operational needs throughout the day.
  • Be present during selected Market hours to support operations, volunteers, and neighbors.
  • Coordinate the Snack Pack program by working with volunteers and ensuring the program has the food and supplies needed for consistent weekly distribution.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with food donors and partner agencies.


Operational Support & Compliance

  • Ensure applicable food safety practices, documentation, and temperature logs are maintained.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance needs related to food program equipment.
  • Submit invoices and purchasing documentation in a timely manner.
  • Provide regular operational updates to the Director of Programs & Services.


Qualifications

Required

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while balancing competing operational responsibilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with volunteers, neighbors, vendors, and community partners.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft 365, email, and spreadsheets.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding service to neighbors, volunteers, and community partners while supporting Tri-Lakes Cares' mission.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and move boxes of food and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, using appropriate lifting techniques and assistance when needed.


Preferred

  • Experience in grocery, food service, warehouse, food bank, or retail inventory management.
  • Experience with purchasing and inventory management.
  • Experience coordinating deliveries, logistics, or food operations.
  • Current Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) certification preferred.
  • Experience working with volunteers.


Schedule & Work Environment


This is a temporary, part-time, nonexempt position working approximately 2430 hours per week.


The schedule is generally flexible, although regular weekday availability is expected. This position requires on-site work and participation during selected Market hours to support food program operations.

Compensation & Benefits


The hourly rate for this position is $23.00 - $27.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.


This temporary position is nonexempt and eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable law. Paid sick leave is provided in accordance with Colorado law. Eligibility for additional benefits will be determined in accordance with Tri-Lakes Cares policies and applicable benefit plan requirements.
