ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Lead and support Mechanical Integrity (MI) programs in accordance with OSHA PSM requirements
- Ensure maintenance practices align with site safety policies, procedures, and permit systems
- Participate in and lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory agency interactions related to maintenance and engineering
Maintenance Strategy & Reliability
- Develop and execute maintenance strategies that support safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant operation
- Drive reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles and asset criticality analysis
- Analyze equipment performance, downtime, and failure data to improve reliability and availability
- Establish KPIs for maintenance performance (MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance, backlog, etc.)
Mechanical Integrity
- Own and maintain mechanical integrity programs for pressure vessels, piping, relief devices, rotating equipment, and other critical assets
- Ensure inspection, testing, and documentation requirements are met and maintained
- Coordinate with inspectors, contractors, and engineering resources to address deficiencies and repairs
- Manage equipment standards, specifications, and maintenance procedures
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Develop, optimize, and sustain preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) programs
- Leverage technologies such as vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and condition monitoring
- Ensure effective use of the CMMS for work management, asset history, and continuous improvement
- Balance reactive, preventive, and predictive work to minimize unplanned downtime
Methods, Best Practices & Continuous Improvement
- Standardize maintenance methods, job plans, and work processes
- Implement best practices in maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, cost, and efficiency
- Support Management of Change (MOC) processes for equipment and system modifications
Leadership & Management
- Lead, coach, and develop maintenance and engineering staff, including supervisors, technicians, and engineers
- Foster a strong safety culture and accountability across the maintenance organization
- Manage department budgets, contractors, and external service providers
- Collaborate closely with Operations, EHS, Supply Chain, and Quality teams
Small to Mid-Size Capital Projects
- Lead and manage small to mid-size capital projects from scope development through execution and startup
- Develop project justifications, cost estimates, schedules, and risk assessments
- Ensure projects meet safety, regulatory, technical, and operational requirements
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external engineering and construction resources
Requirements:
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline
Experience: 8+ years of maintenance and engineering experience in a chemical or process manufacturing environment
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office 365
Certifications & Licenses: None
Supervisory Responsibilities: Maintenance and Engineering Department
Other Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of OSHA PSM, mechanical integrity, and regulatory compliance
- Proven experience leading maintenance teams and reliability programs
- Hands-on experience with CMMS, PM/PdM programs, and root cause analysis
- Ability to respond to off-hours maintenance or emergency situations as required
Preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with capital project execution in operating chemical plants
- Formal training in reliability engineering, RCM, or asset management
- Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills
