Then bring your talents to Travis County. ?Travis County's Human Resources Management Department is seeking Medical Assistant Sr.

    to join their dynamic team. The Medical Assistant Sr. in the Travis County Employee Clinic reports directly to the Clinic Manager and works under nursing supervision, provides clinical and direct patient care and advanced administrative support to clinic practice.

    May perform diagnostic testing, maintain supply inventory levels, clean and maintain equipment and clinic spaces. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This is a job classification within the Medical job family.

    It is distinguished from the Medical Assistant by the performance of advanced administrative duties. Duties and Responsibilities Schedules patients, takes vital signs and prepares patients for provider visit. Cleans and stores equipment after exam.

    Cleans Patient rooms. Maintains equipment, monitors inventory of medical and/or office supplies. Ensures patient rooms are adequately stocked and monitors supply expiration dates.

    Ensures front desk area and administrative space is organized and answers incoming calls. Reviews, responds to, sends, and files incoming faxes. Establishes new patients in the EMR, assigns insurance information and ensures patient demographic data is up to date.

    Documents patient visits and signs off on notes. Processes requests for medical release of information in accordance with clinic and county policy. Performs diagnostic testing, recalls lab, x-ray and other reports.

    Assists physicians with prescription refills. Provides patients with educational materials as requested. Updates appointment schedule as required.

    Administers medication under physician direction and within scope of practice as demonstrated by completion of training and testing. Follows directions given by nursing team or supervisor. Collects and sorts incoming mail.

    Creates tracks and closes out purchase orders, processes travel claims, performs billing functions and submits claims to clearing house. Maintains administrative supplies and orders educational materials. Maintains vendor accounts, resolves issues with service or billing.

    Tracks and schedules equipment inspection. Submits and tracks trouble tickets with vendors and/or IT department. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Requirements Education and Experience: High School diploma or graduation from trade school and three (3) to five (5) years of office medical experience in a clinical setting as a Medical Assistant supporting clinic office activities; OR, Any combination of education and experience that has been achieved and is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job. Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements: Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assisting Program and/or a Certified Medical Assistant. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of: Nursing guidelines.

    Clinic policies. Medical Assistant training. File management and techniques.

    Principle and procedures of record keeping, particularly EMR. Computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation and related software packages. Business English, spelling and basic arithmetic, letter writing, grammar and punctuation, and report preparation.

    HIPAA and other federal and state laws requiring the confidential handling of certain health information. Skill in: Working as part of a team. Working with customers both in person and on the telephone.

    Resolving complex problems. Both verbal and written communication. Ability to: Manage time constructively.

    Resolve customer issues and maintain a production schedule. Compile data and present it in a clear and comprehensive manner. Understand and carry out verbal and written directions.

    Establish and maintain effective working relationships with department clientele, representatives of outside agencies, other County employees and officials, and the general public. Work Environment & Other Information Physical requirements include the ability to lift/carry up to 20-50 pounds occasionally, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, repetitive motion, reaching, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling, balancing, client/customer contact, squatting to perform the essential functions.

    Subject to contact with communicable diseases, radiation, hazardous waste, human fecal matter and foul odors. Travis County employees play an important role in business continuity. As such, employees can be assigned to business continuity efforts outside of normal job functions.

    Work Hours: M-Th 7:30-5:30; F- 7:30-11:30. Employee clinics are not open on holidays or weekends so our clinical team has a Monday - Friday schedule.
