Job description

At SGPS ShowRig, we specialize in bringing world-class live events, concerts, and broadcasts to life through precision, creativity, and technical expertise. Joining our team means working as part of a professional touring crew—living on the road, traveling by bus, checking in and out of hotels, and setting up shows in arenas, stadiums, and venues across the country and the world.

Summary
 As an Automation Operator with SGPS ShowRig, you’ll be responsible for the programming and live operation of automation systems that bring productions to life. You will work side-by-side with technicians, stage managers, and production teams to ensure effects are executed flawlessly. This role demands technical precision, adaptability under pressure, and a commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program and operate the automation console during live events, concerts, and television broadcasts
  • Participate in shop preparations: label, pack, and organize automation equipment for transport
  • Partner with Automation Technicians to troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions
  • Monitor automation cues in real time and adjust programming as needed
  • Collaborate with production staff to ensure cues align seamlessly with performance timing
  • Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance on automation systems
  • Provide training and guidance on safe automation practices
  • Participate in emergency procedure training
  • Perform other related duties as required
Skills & Experience
  • Experience programming and operating automation systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical repair skills
  • Calm under pressure with knowledge of emergency protocols
  • Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Commitment to safety standards and crew well-being
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively


Physical and Social Requirements

Travel & Schedule

Role requires variable hours that may include nights, weekends, and extended travel based on show and tour schedules.

Certifications & Training

Experience operating Kinesys or comparable motion control systems

Show control proficiency (Navigator, Raynok or similar)

Lockout/Tagout training

OSHA 10 or 30
