Company Description
  • Start Date: within the next few weeks
    • Orientation Note: Our New Employee Orientations are held every other Wednesday, starting at 10:30am. You will need to attend the full day.
  • Hourly Wage: $15.00/hr + benefits
  • Shift: Your schedule will be a combo of the following
    • 5am-1pm week day shifts
    • Every other weekend rotation
  • Schedule: Full Time 40 hours per week, with weekend rotations

Dietary Cook / Line Cook - Make a Real Difference Every Day!
Are you ready to join a team where your cooking skills help brighten someone's day? At our medical center, being a Cook means more than just preparing meals.
What you'll do:
  • Follow detailed recipes to prepare tasty, nutritious meals for patients, including 'special diets' tailored with help from our Registered Dietitian.
  • Keep the kitchen clean and safe, following strict IDPH food safety rules to protect everyone.
  • Pitch in wherever needed - from stocking the freezer to chatting with patients about their meals or helping to serve meals...
  • Work as part of a fast-moving team that wears many hats every day.

Qualifications
Dietary Cook: Officially, we title this job a Dietary Cook, but in other centers it may be called Line Cook or even an entry level Chef.
What we need from you:
  • Current (ServSafe) Food Handler Certificate *Required*
  • Current Sanitation Certificate (CFPM) *Required*
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Cook/Chef in a healthcare facility or commercial/central kitchen (strongly preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of computer-based documentation systems
  • Understanding of good food preparation, serving techniques, and food safety and sanitation rules
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred)
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to regularly stand for lengthy periods of time, push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds, and pass a pre-employment physical and background check
