Advance Shipfitters

We're excited to offer a great opportunity at $45.00 plus $120.00 PD.Work is located in Virginia.

Experience

You should have four or more years of commercial or naval experience as a first-class Shipfitter.

Required Skills

  • Multi-Pass Tack Welding:
    • Using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Process.
    • With MIL-10718-M (A-5A) Filler Metal of MIL-E-22200/1.
    • In both the Vertical Up (3F) and Overhead (4F) positions.
  • Burning: Oxygen/Propane Burning Torch.
  • Heating: Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch.
  • Blueprint Comprehension: Understand complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches, including weld symbols, material types, datum, and reference lines.
  • Fractional Dimensions: Comprehend fractional dimensions using a ruler.
  • Layout Skills: Layout piece parts for fabrication and assembly.
  • Assembly Skills: Assemble structural piece parts according to specifications in a quality manner.
  • Physical Demands: Experience in a physically demanding environment (like shipbuilding or steel fabrication).
  • OSHA Familiarity: Know OSHA regulations related to the shipbuilding industry.
  • Vibratory Tools: Use grinders and needle guns.
  • Air Carbon Arc Gouging: Experience with this technique.
  • Work Packages: Use Work Packages and Drawings to plan and execute work.
  • Molded Lines: Use Molded Lines and Ship Reference Lines to execute required work.
  • Complex Shapes: Erect, set, and makeup complex-shaped shell plates.
  • Decks and Bulkheads: Erect, set, and makeup decks, bulkheads, longitudinal trunks, etc.
  • Hull Inserts: Install and replace hull inserts and penetrations.
  • Foundations: Install miscellaneous and complex foundations.
