Role Summary
Ships Superintendent will lead the overall management of 2 or 3 vessels. The ideal candidate will have a background in engineering, project management, quality, and basic ship operations with best practices in both US and foreign flag environments. The role will be responsible for operating within the quality management system, ensuring compliance with flag state, class and OCIMF requirements while ensuring efficient operations. The person in this role will be a leader with good management skills and knowledge of deep-sea shipboard operations in both US and foreign flag. This is an opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing operating business and to work closely with the senior executive team as an integral part of the team.
Responsibilities
Ensure day to day vessel operations are completed in a timely fashion, keeping the vessel organized and prepared for voyages
To ensure vessel/s comply with all relevant rules & regulations with special emphasis on the ISM code, the applicable ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standard as well as flag state, port state and the industry's special
Arranging procurement for vessel operations
Working with Ships staff to identify operational issues and problem solve in a cost effective manner
Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and quality standards, including USCG, ABS, and company policies.
Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule and cost controls.
Maintain accurate project records, reports, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Provide leadership for shipyard activities, including project management, and class renewal surveys
Give support on matters related to technical operations.
Keep technical and operational statistics.
Attend to additional duties as decided during the annual employee dialogue.
Analyse and respond to undesired events.
Participate in evaluation of Shipboard management Systems Review
Arrange management reviews and ensure actions decided upon are implemented
Preferred Qualifications
BS or BE in engineering, naval architecture, maritime studies or related field
Shipboard officers license (deck or engine)
This person must have held a senior position in the technical department in a shipping or offshore company
Hold or able to obtain a personnel security clearance at the Secret level
This person needs to be a safety specialist with skills necessary to manage multiple projects and organizational skills to understand and maintain details of intricate situations
This person must have an attitude where dynamic situations are not impossible to comprehend, dynamic situations are able to understand and worked through, complex adversity is not viewed as a problem but viewed as a challenge
This person must be able to communicate with Executives and Shipside staff in a clear and methodical tone using all avenues available for dispersion of material and knowledge
