Job description

Tous les Jours is a franchise bakery/café that specializes in French-Asian inspired baked goods, and we are excited to announce an opening for a Cake Decorator/Baker at our location in Huntsville's MidCity. This position is essential to our mission of delivering high-quality pastries, breads, and beverages that reflect our passion for quality ingredients and traditional techniques. As a Cake Decorator/Baker, you will play a pivotal role in designing, decorating, and crafting specialty cakes for various occasions. Your creations will not only be delicious but also visually stunning, as they will be showcased in our display cabinet for customers to admire and enjoy. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, filling, and finishing cakes and select pastries, ensuring that each item meets our high standards of quality and presentation.

You will work closely with our team to build, ice, and decorate cakes and other bakery goods according to recipe instructions. Maintaining the cake display case and ensuring it is filled with designated cakes and pastries will be part of your daily tasks. Additionally, you will manage and complete daily production list requirements, maintain a clean and organized work area, and keep track of inventory as assigned. This position requires a steady hand, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of design principles to create cakes that not only taste great but also look exceptional.

Responsibilities

  • Open the bakery early in the morning (5:30am - 11:00am)
  • Ensure food safety standards
  • Clean kitchen equipment and tools before/after use
  • Mix various ingredients to create fillings for breads and pies (e.g. cream and fruits)
  • Track food supplies and place orders, as needed
  • Train team members if needed
  • Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes and select pastries.
  • Build, ice, and decorate cakes and other bakery goods following recipe instructions.
  • Maintain the cake display case and fill it with designated cakes and pastries.
  • Manage and complete daily production list requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Maintain inventory and report as assigned.

Skills

  • Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role is plus
  • Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters
  • Understanding of food safety practices
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
  • Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
  • Flexibility to work in early morning shifts
  • Certification from a culinary school is a plus
  • Speaking English and Spanish is a plus
