Job description

What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope:

The EHS Consulting & Business Development professional will be responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and delivering high-quality EHS consulting services. This role combines technical EHS expertise with business development and account growth responsibilities, with a strong focus on building long-term client partnerships and expanding Tormod's service offerings.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Identify, qualify, and secure new consulting opportunities.
  • Generate follow-on work and expand services within existing client accounts.
  • Lead client meetings, site visits, discovery discussions, and presentations.
  • Develop scopes of work, proposals, project estimates, and technical recommendations.
  • Support strategic business development initiatives, industry networking, and client outreach efforts.
  • Execute billable EHS consulting projects, including assessments, audits, compliance reviews, industrial hygiene evaluations, training, and risk management services.
  • Develop practical, value-driven solutions that improve client performance, reduce risk, and support regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, recommendations, presentations, and other client deliverables.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and profitability.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders and proactively identify opportunities to address evolving client needs.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services across multiple facilities, departments, and business units.
  • Introduce and promote complementary Tormod services, including Reliability, Commissioning & Startup (CSU), Procedure Development, Environmental, and Industrial Hygiene consulting.
  • Convert individual project engagements into long-term client partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal technical teams to develop integrated solutions that meet client needs.
  • Contribute to the growth and profitability of the EHS consulting practice.
Ideal Background

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Registration:

  • CSP, CIH, ASP, CHST, or similar professional certification preferred.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in EHS consulting, industrial hygiene, operational safety, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, consulting revenue generation, and client account growth.
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining relationships with industrial clients and key stakeholders.
  • Experience leading client engagements, developing proposals and scopes of work, and managing consulting projects.
  • Experience identifying opportunities to expand services and develop long-term client partnerships.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of EHS principles, regulatory compliance, risk management, and industrial safety practices.
  • Strong business development and client relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and close consulting opportunities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong proposal development, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to develop practical, cost-effective solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, and profitability.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with technical and business development teams.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand client needs and translate them into value-added solutions.
  • Ability to build credibility and trust with clients at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to identify cross-selling and account expansion opportunities across Tormod's service offerings.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry in excess of 25 lbs.
  • Ability to travel to client facilities, project sites, and industry events as required.
  • Ability to work in industrial and manufacturing environments, including the ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to participate in site walks, assessments, audits, and other field activities.
