Department: Curriculum & Instruction Date: July 21, 2026
Primary Purpose:
To design and implement a wide variety of activities that promote a teaching staff that is highly qualified and able to help all students achieve challenging academic achievement standards. To work cooperatively with district personnel so that a consistently high standard is implemented and maintained in the area of advanced academic programs.
Qualifications:
Master's degree, (preferred, experience may replace advanced degree)
Five years experience as a classroom teacher
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
Experience in facilitating professional development (preferred)
Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Coordinate and oversee the district's comprehensive professional development program.

  1. Provides professional development that improves the knowledge of teachers, campus leadership and staff in content knowledge and instructional practices that are scientifically based and aligned with district philosophy.
  2. Coordinate and oversee district academic enrichment programs that promote critical thinking, creativity and problem solving.
  3. Provides content expertise to collaborative groups of teachers and administrators.
  4. Provide ongoing coaching and follow-up support to teachers and staff.
  5. Coordinates the review, development and revision of curriculum.
  6. Utilizes content area and specialization skills to provide instructional leadership in curriculum planning.
  7. Provides coaching and mentoring support.
  8. Assists in the selection, organization, and distribution of instructional materials.
  9. Conducts annual program evaluations.
  10. Oversees data collection and reporting of student/program information. Train and assist teachers in using data and assessments to improve classroom practices and student learning.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

  1. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing).
  2. Interpret policy, procedures, and data.
  3. Direct district functions.
  4. Maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
  1. Frequent districtwide and occasional state travel.
  2. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
  3. Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
