Mendes Wood DM, an international commercial art gallery, is seeking an experienced, self-directed finance professional to lead the organization’s financial operations. Reporting to the global CFO in Brazil, this person will liaise with various colleagues internationally. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-directed, detail-oriented, and possess a strong understanding of US financial principles, including reporting, compliance, payroll, and executive support within a fast-paced, international organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Monthly reconciliations (bank + credit cards)

Cash & banking

• Daily transaction reconciliation vs. Chase Bank
• Weekly cash flow projections for CFO
• Monthly, quarterly & annual closings
• Plan vs. Actual budget analysis
• Intercompany reconciliations

HR & payroll

• Biweekly payroll review & QBO journal entries
• Onboarding / offboarding coordination

Tax & compliance

• Liaison with IRS, legal counsel & CPA
• Timely monthly filings & submissions

Executive support

• CEO-level admin for Germantown LLC
• Legal & tax coordination for related entity

What we are looking for

• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial administration, ideally in a multi-entity or international context.
• Advanced QuickBooks Online proficiency: journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, and closings
• Proven ability to manage cash flow independently and produce projections for senior leadership
• Experience handling multi-jurisdiction sales tax compliance with external providers
• Comfortable owning full-cycle payroll and serving as the primary HR operations contact
• Strong communicator who can liaise professionally with banks, legal counsel, CPAs, and government agencies
• Ability to work with a high degree of discretion, initiative, and organizational rigor, you manage your own priorities.
