As a Traffic Control Technician, you play an important role in executing traffic control management according to applicable regulations, with the primary objective of ensuring all parties working on or crossing a job site can do so safely.

What you will be responsible for:

• Perform multiple traffic control set-ups as per MTO Book 7 while adhering to traffic plan requirements to ensure the safety of all stakeholders impacted at the worksite (crew members, motorists, pedestrians, etc.).
  
• Interpret traffic management plans to determine correct placement of required signage, barrels, and  other channeling devices
• Complete teardown of sites once the applicable work has been completed.
• Protect your peers, construction workers, the motoring public, cyclists & pedestrians by regulating traffic flow.
• Stop traffic whenever required by the progress of work or to keep traffic moving at reduced speeds to avoid tie-ups and delays.
• Maintain a safety awareness and work in compliance with applicable health & safety regulations and policies.

What we need from you:

• Valid G class driver’s license and a clean driver's abstract (Required)
• Must be available to work Monday - Friday between 6am - 6pm with the potential to work some evenings and weekends (Required)
• Have strong verbal and written English communication skills (Required)
• Vision and hearing abilities that allow to perform all work requirements safely (Required)
• You will be required to provide your own CSA Grade 1 (green label) work boots with a minimum 6 inch cuff and electrical shock resistance (white label with omega symbol)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Construction or Traffic Control (Preferred)
  
• Experience driving trucks/towing a trailer (Asset)
• Have a valid DZ driver’s license (Asset)
  
• Communicate effectively - Good communication skills to be able to give motorists & pedestrians simple directions, explain hazards, and answer questions
• Grace under pressure - Able to calmly troubleshoot issues and collaborate with a diverse group of people
• Tech savvy - Must have a smartphone that you're comfortable using for work purposes with ability to learn new systems/apps
• Collaborates - Comfortable working in a team environment
  
• Awareness of surroundings - Monitor traffic, construction equipment, and workers for safety purposes
