Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Structural Engineer, PE forensic role based in Flower Mound, TX. The Structural Engineer will perform forensic investigations of structural systems, including field assessments, damage evaluations, failure analyses, and cause-and-origin studies. Daily tasks include conducting site inspections, documenting conditions through notes, photos, and measurements, performing structural calculations and analysis, and preparing clear, defensible technical reports. The role may involve various levels of collaborating with other engineers and external stakeholders, providing expert input for claims or legal matters, and presenting findings in meetings, depositions, or hearings as needed. The engineer will also support design reviews, recommend repair strategies, and ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and professional ethics.

Qualifications

  • Strong structural engineering knowledge, with experience applying forensic investigations, written reports, rebuttal, and depositions.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and performing detailed calculations for a variety of materials and structural systems.
  • Experience with equipment and software used in field investigation work used to assess structural conditions issues. .
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Prior experience in forensic engineering, building assessments, or failure investigation is highly beneficial.
  • Strong technical writing skills for preparing clear, well-supported reports and communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to conduct on-site field work, including climbing, measuring, and working in a variety of environmental conditions.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, advanced degree and SE is a plus.
  • Ability to walk or climb on ladders, lifts, roofs, attics, or navigate safe crawl spaces.
  • Working knowledge of basic OSHA safety recommendations is a plus.
