Assistant Project Manager

Position Summary

The Assistant Project Manager supports the successful execution of construction projects by coordinating project documentation, materials, equipment, schedules, and field communication throughout the project lifecycle. This role partners closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Safety, Logistics, and vendors to ensure projects are organized, compliant, and progressing according to scope, schedule, and budget. The Assistant Project Manager plays a critical role in bridging preconstruction planning with field execution while maintaining strong operational discipline.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Execution Support

Support Project Managers across all phases of the project lifecycle by coordinating planning, documentation, materials, schedules, and communication to support on-time and on-budget project execution.


Scope Review & Documentation Management

Review project scope, drawings, specifications, and proposals. Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including submittals, correspondence, change documentation, and closeout materials within project systems.


Material, Equipment & Vendor Coordination

Coordinate material procurement, equipment rentals, and vendor activities. Track orders, deliveries, usage, and costs to support budget control and minimize waste or unnecessary expense.


Field Readiness, Scheduling & Reporting

Prepare field handoff materials and support preconstruction coordination. Assist with schedule tracking, production reporting, and validation of labor, material usage, and progress against plan.


Quality, Safety & Compliance Support

Support site walks, inspections, testing coordination, and safety documentation. Partner with Safety and Field teams to ensure jobsite readiness and compliance with company and project requirements.


Cross-Functional Communication & Issue Escalation

Maintain consistent communication with Project Managers, Superintendents, Safety, Logistics, Accounting, and vendors. Identify issues early and escalate appropriately to support timely resolution.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience supporting project management or construction operations preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
  • Experience coordinating materials, equipment, vendors, and field support activities
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and project document management systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of construction safety standards and jobsite requirements

Working Conditions

Physical Environment:

Combination of office work, meetings, and active jobsite presence. Travel between project sites may be required.


Hours/Shifts:

Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the essential functions of this role, subject to applicable leave laws and reasonable accommodation. Hours typically are Monday through Friday but may vary based on project schedules, deadlines, and business needs, including occasional weekend work.
