Role Description The Chinese Teacher role at The Language Lounge is a contract position in a hybrid setting, based in Leander, TX, with a combination of on-site teaching and some work-from-home responsibilities. The teacher will plan and deliver interactive Mandarin Chinese lessons for individuals and small groups, adapting instruction to different ages, proficiency levels, and learning goals. Daily tasks include developing lesson plans and instructional materials, incorporating speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities, and integrating cultural topics into classes. The teacher will assess student progress, provide timely feedback, maintain accurate records of attendance and performance, and communicate regularly with students and caregivers as needed. The role also involves collaborating with the education team to refine curriculum, participate in occasional meetings or training sessions, and ensure a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Strong Chinese Teaching skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt methods to diverse learners.
• Experience in Teaching and Education, including classroom management and age-appropriate instructional practices.
• Effective Communication skills for interacting with learners, caregivers, and team members in a professional and respectful manner.
• Proficiency in Lesson Planning, including creating structured, goal-oriented lessons with engaging activities and assessments.
• Advanced proficiency in Mandarin Chinese; ability to model accurate pronunciation, grammar, and usage.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Chinese Language, Linguistics, or a related field, or equivalent teaching experience.
• Experience teaching Mandarin in classroom, tutoring, or online settings; prior work with children or youth is a plus.
• Ability to work on-site in Leander, TX for scheduled sessions and reliably manage remote responsibilities.
