Job description

The HR Manager LLC is a boutique HR consulting firm that partners with employers to create employee, applicant, and workplace experiences that align with each organization’s core values, culture, and business goals. We support a diverse range of employers, including private schools, small businesses, family foundations, and nonprofit organizations. Our work requires consultants who are hands-on, resourceful, and exceptional problem-solvers with a strong progression of HR generalist experience in small- to mid-sized organizations.
Our consultants are true HR “unicorns” — professionals with deep and broad HR knowledge who can confidently answer questions about final pay processing, then seamlessly pivot to designing bonus programs, managing complex leave situations, navigating employee relations matters, advising leadership on sensitive workplace issues, and adeptly working within a variety of HR software platforms and systems.
Our consultants are trusted advisors, but they are also highly hands-on. A significant portion of the work involves day-to-day transactional HR support in addition to strategic problem solving and compliance guidance. The work is interesting, varied, and impactful, and no two days look exactly the same.
Our services include HR compliance, wage and hour/FLSA guidance, compensation strategy, employee handbooks, management training, employee relations, leaves of absence, performance management and discipline, leadership development, and recruiting support.
The ideal candidate is someone who:
• Has deep and broad HR generalist experience
• Is highly responsive and comfortable managing competing priorities
• Enjoys hands-on HR work and problem solving
• Can remain calm, flexible, and solutions-oriented under pressure
• Has strong judgment and excellent client service instincts
• Truly enjoys helping people and supporting organizations
Qualifications:
• Deep knowledge and understanding of California employment laws and HR compliance requirements, including the ability to thoughtfully interpret and apply regulations in real-world workplace situations — not simply follow templates or checklists
• Genuine curiosity about HR requirements and best practices, along with a strong interest in problem solving, and developing and implementing policies, procedures, and systems
• Excellent writing, analytical, research, and communication skills (written and oral)
• Strong technology skills and systems aptitude, with the ability to quickly learn, navigate, and utilize new platforms and tools
• Experience supporting small- to mid-sized organizations in a consulting or in-house HR capacity preferred
• California HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHRca, or SPHR) and/or an advanced degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required
If you thrive in this type of fast-paced, dynamic environment and love these challenges, we would love to hear from you.
Compensation Range: $60 - $80/hour
