The Mental Health Clinician participates as part of the Circle Preschool therapeutic team of staff through providing and sustaining mental health services for assigned clients enrolled in the preschool and their families. These services include providing therapeutic social skills support in the classroom setting, conducting assessments for children and families enrolled in the CPP, provision of play therapy for children and/ or family therapy for caregivers, coordination of therapeutic services for children and caregivers, case coordination with other providers involved with the child and/or family, and all necessary clinical documentation. Additional duties may include the coordination of volunteer meetings with the Program Director and the Clinical Coordinator, conducting program evaluations, assisting with supervision of VCU interns and other duties assigned by the Clinical Coordinator. The Mental Health Clinician reports to the Clinical Coordinator, however the clinician will function as an active team member within the Circle Pre-school Program interdisciplinary team approach. This position is for 20 hours a week.

Major Responsibilities:
The CPP Mental Health Clinician must possess a minimum of a Master's degree in social work or other related human service field and be eligible for supervision towards licensure or have completed licensure (e.g., LCSW, LPC). Previous experience with children who have been exposed to domestic violence, experienced neglect, physical, sexual, and emotional trauma during early childhood development, as well as children who display attachment, neurological and other secondary presenting symptoms of early childhood disorders. The clinician will possess skills in family engagement, an understanding of cultural diversity and family system stressors as well as community systems. In addition, the Clinician should have experience with a multi-disciplinary setting in a school /or preschool preferred.
