Position Overview
A Registered Behavior Technician is responsible for providing one-on-one behavioral interventions to individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. Under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, the RBT implements treatment plans using Applied Behavior Analysis techniques to promote skill development and reduce challenging behaviors.
Responsibilities
- Implement Behavior Plans: Follow treatment plans designed by the BCBA to help clients develop skills and manage behaviors.
- Direct Client Interaction: Work one-on-one with clients in home, school, clinic, or community settings.
- Data Collection: Timely and accurately record and track progress based on behavioral data.
- Skill Development: Help clients improve in areas such as communication, social skills, daily living skills, and academics.
- Crisis Management: Use de-escalation techniques to handle challenging behaviors safely.
- Parent & Caregiver Training: Assist families by providing strategies to reinforce skills outside of sessions.
- Collaboration: Communicate with BCBAs, teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistent implementation of interventions.
- Ethical Compliance: Follow all Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and company policies on ethical compliance.
Requirements, Qualifications & Skills
- Active RBT certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with children, individuals with ASD or developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Ability to pass a background check and obtain CPR certification.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work
Environment/Physical Demands
- This is a field-based role that requires travel to various client locations, including homes, schools, and clinics.
- Regularly involves standing, walking, bending, and engaging with clients in active environments.
- This job requires reliable transportation for travel up to 18 miles from employee’s home to field location.
- May involve working afternoons, evenings, or weekends based on client needs.
