Job description

SUMMARY: The IT Infrastructure Administrator's role is to plan, organize and manage Teton County's technology infrastructure, on-premises and cloud-based, to ensure the reliable operation of Teton County government services. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data storage and data communications. Duties also include analyzing and resolving advanced end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and coaching/mentoring junior members of the information technology team.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. The job description is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Manage server, security, network and cloud infrastructure solutions (includes design and capacity planning, administration of access permissions, asset management, system backups and security audits)
  • Manage technology implementation projects
  • Conducts research on infrastructure products, services, standards and recommends improvements, upgrades and repairs (may include negotiating directly with vendors and contractors)
  • Monitors infrastructure availability, responds and resolves technology infrastructure incidents and outages
  • Creates and updates infrastructure documentation (including infrastructure diagrams, procedures and playbooks)
  • Coaches and provides guidance to junior members of the IT Team
  • Maintains confidentiality of Teton County protected information
  • Supports inter-departmental relationships with Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and Teton County staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in technology related major
  • AND 5-7 years recent progressive professional experience in an enterprise network environment
  • OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Required Licenses and Certifications:
  • CompTIA Network+
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
  • Must possess a valid Wyoming/Idaho Driver's License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Must acquire and maintain CompTIA and Microsoft Certifications

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:
  • Recent professional experience in a municipal or government setting
  • One or more of the following certifications: Cisco Certified Networking Associate, Aruba Certified Switching Associate, Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer, Nutanix Certified Professional

Knowledge & Experience
  • Working technical knowledge of network operating systems, e.g. Cisco NX-OS, ArubaOS, PAN-OS.
  • Working technical knowledge of desktop, server operating systems and virtualization technology, e.g. Windows 10/11 Professional/Enterprise, Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V, Nutanix Prism
  • Working technical knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure technology, e.g. Microsoft Azure and M365, AWS
  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards
  • Good understanding of the Teton County government goals and objectives.
  • Good understanding of safety rules and regulations, occupational hazards, and safety precautions in IT work sites
  • Knowledge of Teton County policies and procedures including security protocols.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Hands-on hardware, software and network troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience creating network documentation, knowledge base articles, standard operating procedures
  • Experience with IT project management, as a lead project resource and/or project coordinator or project manager
  • Experience with technology and cybersecurity incident management, as a lead resource

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
  • Work is performed in a standard office and around Teton County facilities.
  • Full manual dexterity and visual acuity are required to work in confined spaces and use precision tools and equipment
  • Requires vision capacity to perform fine calibrations and differentiate between colored wires.
  • On-call availability for 7-10 days per month.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.

Pay Range: $46.77 - $53.79 per hour
