Internship Overview
Our Business Administration teams ensure business operations run smoothly, and continuously find ways to improve processes, drive growth and leverage trends to drive innovation for our various lines of business. Ideal interns are sustainability minded, data-driven. Our business administration teams include Customer Marketing, Communications / Public Relations, Executive, Finance, Operations and People Operations which support all of our lines of business.
Communications/Public Relations interns are responsible for assisting in external communications activities for the company like public relations, media relations, and writing. Ideal interns are well-versed in short and long-form writing, comfortable writing for broad audiences, and have the ability to align their writing style to TerraCycle's copy. Communications/ PR interns will assist in strategic communications efforts, conduct media outreach, draft press releases and award submissions, build media lists, craft media pitches, compile press coverage reports, and assist in weekly media monitoring.
Customer Marketing interns will focus on the intersection of technical data analysis and paid performance marketing, with a specific emphasis on the emerging AI landscape. Ideal interns are detail-oriented, self-motivated, and passionate about environmental impact. You will leverage a technical mindset to manage product feeds, analyze TerraCycle's presence across AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Gemini, and conduct research into AI search optimization. Additionally, you will learn and apply digital marketing strategies such as A/B testing for paid search and paid social, transforming complex data into actionable insights that support TerraCycle's digital marketing initiatives.
Direct to Consumer/E-Commerce interns will focus on digital brand presence and audience growth. This role bridges the gap between web performance and marketing strategy by auditing product content for AI visibility and analyzing user behavior. Ideal interns are analytical, proactive, and creative, with an eye for detail and an interest in how data informs brand strategy. Interns will assist the team with optimizing product pages, supporting global sale moments, and researching untapped audience segments.
Executive interns will support our senior executives by handling a wide range of administrative, analytical, and operational tasks to generate insights that help inform decisions for the wider company. Ideal interns are proactive, dependable,
organized and a balanced skill set with high proficiency in writing, analysis, and critical thinking. Interns will be tasked with completing special market research or analytical projects, fulfilling administrative needs for our executive teams, working across departments, completing special projects and ensuring the timely completion of deliverables.
Finance interns will assist the team in forecasting, reporting and analyzing TerraCycle's budget. Ideal interns will have strong analytical skills, and the ability to effectively and accurately communicate findings. Finance interns will develop an understanding of TerraCycle's business models and leverage their knowledge to support the financial planning, reporting and analysis process.
Email Marketing interns will work on research and analytics-based projects where they will learn the overall functioning of email marketing, and learn different ESPs that TerraCycle uses. The intern will assist in doing deep research and analysis on topics like Subject lines to be used in the major sales period, what can be the best way to increase opens and clicks. The intern will also have an opportunity to learn the different functionalities of HubSpot and Klaviyo, and deepen their knowledge on the technical aspects like deliverability issues, domain reputation, and understanding how important they all are when you are an email marketer. Analytical skills, proficiency with tools like MS Office (especially MS Excel), basic knowledge about CRM platforms a plus.
Operations interns oversee business operations and assist in maintaining all internal processes and support the continuous development of the wider company. Ideal interns will be flexible and able to work in different operational capacities of development, technical, and tactical operations with strong attention to detail and efficiency. Interns will work closely with the team to support new process or program implementation, troubleshoot operational issues and support internal logistics.
People Operations interns help track, manage and improve the life cycle of a TerraCycle employee from prospective candidate to exiting employee. Ideal interns are strategic thinkers who are able to adapt with employee needs, leverage resources to assist the team, and exercise balance between empathy and critical thinking when addressing concerns. The People Operations intern will work closely with the People Operations Associate to support the strategic efforts, administrative needs and daily operations of the People Operations department. The People Operations intern will work dynamically with the larger team, assist with driving our larger strategy, and support a positive team culture.

Internship Requirements

Internship Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Business, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Communications, or related field, preferred
  • If enrolled in a college or university, in good academic standing
  • Intermediate skill in Google Suite
  • High level of effectiveness in written, oral and digital communication
