    Job description

    Temple University's Student Health department is searching for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant!

    Salary Range: $90,000-$126,875 annually based on experience

    A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant's education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source.
    Position Summary  
    The Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant working under the supervision of a collaborating physician or (supervision of a physician pursuant to a written agreement, in the case of the PA) provides primary care to Temple University students by assessing and managing routine acute/chronic problems and performs routine health prevention care, while consulting with the appropriate medical staff when further consultation is warranted.

    Responsibilities include;  

    Obtaining health history and performing physical examinations,  

    Recommending appropriate treatments,

    Prescribing under physician supervision unless has independent prescriptive license, and  

    Assisting in the development of nursing and nurse practitioner protocols.

    In addition, the Nurse Practitioner or PA will provide gynecologic care to female students,  Coordinates follow-up for patients seen, documents clearly and appropriately in electronic medical record.   

    Perform other duties as assigned. 


    Essential Functions of Position

                      -                      Works under the supervision of a collaborating physician.  

                         Obtains health history and performs appropriate physical examinations on patients. 

                         Recommends appropriate treatments for specified medical conditions.   

                         Prescribes under physician supervision unless you have independent prescriptive license.   

                         Provides relevant health instruction, counseling and principles of health promotion and maintenance.  

                         Consults with staff physicians in cases of abnormal findings or when further consultation is warranted.  

                         Coordinates follow-up for patients seen, including care or referrals to ensure patient compliance with health care recommendations. 

                         Solves complex problems within established policies; applies significant judgment within clinical specialty; investigates and implements best practices; relies on technical expertise, peers, and management for problem-solving resources; makes decisions, within scope of professional practice, that impact clinical care within a department. 

                         Documents clearly and appropriately in electronic medical record 

                         Utilizes laboratory and dispensary services appropriately. 

                         Care is rendered at the Main campus.  

                         Maintains Continuing Education requirements for licensure. 

                         Remains up to date in area of practice.     

    Required Education and Experience 

    B.S.N. with a master's degree in nursing, or graduate from an accredited PA program.  Must be licensed and certified as a nurse practitioner or Physician's Assistant in the state of Pennsylvania. Minimum of 3 years' experience working as a nurse practitioner or PA with experience in college health, woman's health care, family practice, urgent care, or emergency medicine 
    This position will be on-site.  

    This position has the potential to be 10 months per year, with summers off.
