The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, Finance is responsible for delivering trusted financial analytics, reporting, and insights in support of Technology Credit Union’s (Tech CU) Finance division. This role resides within the Data Management & Analytics (DMA) function and is matrixed to Finance, ensuring alignment between enterprise data standards and Finance specific decision support needs.

This role partners closely with Finance leadership, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence (BI), and Information Technology to translate complex financial and operational data into reliable dashboards, analytics, and executive level reporting, while maintaining strong data governance, quality, and regulatory compliance. This role spans two clearly defined and complementary areas finance focused analytics and decision support (matrixed responsibility) and enterprise business intelligence responsibilities governed by DMA. This structure ensures deep Finance partnership while maintaining enterprise consistency, scalability, and governance.

Essential Duties

Finance Support & Analytics

• Serves as the primary business intelligence and analytics partner for the Finance organization.
• Translates Finance business questions into analytical requirements, metrics, and reporting solutions.
• Designs, develops, and maintains Finance dashboards, reports, and executive level summaries.
• Performs trend, variance, and anomaly analysis related to financial performance and operations.
• Defines Finance specific metrics, calculations, and analytical assumptions in partnership with Finance leadership.
• Validates data accuracy, integrity, and completeness for Finance reporting and analytics.
• Supports audit, regulatory, and executive reporting requests with well documented, reliable analyses.
• Drives a culture of efficiency and innovation within the analytics team.

Enterprise Business Intelligence (DMA Ownership)

• Aligns Finance analytics and reporting with enterprise BI architecture, standards, and best practices.
• Partners with Data Engineering to ensure proper data sourcing, modeling, and transformation for Finance use cases.
• Defines and documents source-to-target mappings, metric definitions, and calculation logic.
• Promotes consistent data quality, governance, and metric standards across Finance BI.
• Contributes Finance use cases to shared enterprise analytics and BI initiatives.
• Ensures Finance BI solutions leverage approved enterprise tools and adhere to security and access standards.
• Recognized as a thought leader in BI automation and process improvement.

Work Schedule

• Full-time; typically 40+ hours/week
• Flexible within core business hours, Pacific Time, M-F
• Occasional extended early morning or late evening hours, and weekends, typically with advance notice.

Education: Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience: 5+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or financial reporting within a regulated environment.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Advanced SQL and Excel skills.
• Strong experience with Power BI or similar business intelligence platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and data validation skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and executive level communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high quality outputs in a dynamic environment.

Licensing/Certification: None required.

Travel: May be required to occasionally attend offsite training, meetings or events, typically with advance notice.  Overnight travel unlikely.

Typical Working Conditions: Office environment with interaction with a variety of internal and external parties. May work remotely as determined by business need and individual performance.

Equipment Used: Routinely uses standard office equipment, including computer, phone, copier and other devices.

 

Physical Requirements: This position requires:

• Speaking and listening to interact with internal and external parties in person or via phone.
• Reading a computer screen and performing keyboarding tasks for up to 70% of the day.
• Sitting at desk and/or conference table for extended periods of time.
• Mobility to attend meetings within office building and offsite.

• Position Grade: 107
• Salary Range: minimum-$113,000, midpoint-$136,000, maximum-$159,000
• Work Location: The salary range listed is based on working in San Jose, CA. If you work remotely, your salary will be adjusted based on your geographic location.
• Typical Starting Pay: Most new hires start between the minimum and midpoint of the range (adjusted for work location if applicable), based on experience and qualifications.
• Bonus Potential: Target 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance.

Tech CU is a pay-for-performance organization. We benchmark base pay to the 50th percentile of our market and offer incentive-based compensation tied to individual and company goals.
