PERSONAL INJURY LITIGATION ATTORNEY

Chesapeake, VA | Base Salary + Commission

ABOUT THE ROLE

An established and highly respected personal injury law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join its growing team in Chesapeake, Virginia. This role is ideal for an attorney who thrives in a fast‑moving litigation environment and wants meaningful courtroom exposure, hands‑on case ownership, and direct collaboration with firm leadership.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Manage a caseload of personal injury litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Review and evaluate medical records, billing documentation, and injury‑related evidence.
  • Develop litigation strategies and advocate for favorable client outcomes.
  • Analyze automobile insurance coverage and claims issues under Virginia law.
  • Collaborate closely with firm leadership on case strategy and litigation planning.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support paralegals and legal staff.
  • Maintain accurate case documentation using case management software.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other litigation documents.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Active member in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.
  • 3–5 years of litigation experience, with a strong focus on personal injury matters.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and courtroom advocacy skills.
  • Solid understanding of personal injury law, including medical records, billing, and injury evaluation.
  • Knowledge of Virginia automobile insurance coverage and claims practices.
  • Experience using legal case management software (Neos preferred but not required).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience supervising or mentoring legal support staff.
Preferred
  • Membership in VTLA and/or VADA.
  • Business education or professional business experience.
