Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a strong financial background to lead and manage a small accounting office in Brookfield, CT. This role combines hands-on accounting expertise with operational leadership and is ideal for a professional who can oversee client services while managing day-to-day office functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of a small accounting office, including workflow, scheduling, and staff oversight
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Oversee tax preparation for individuals, partnerships, and small businesses
- Provide strategic financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting services to clients
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Supervise and mentor junior staff, ensuring high-quality deliverables
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor
- Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and client satisfaction
- Coordinate with external auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory agencies as needed
Qualifications:
- Active CPA license (Connecticut preferred or ability to obtain)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s a plus)
- 5+ years of accounting or public accounting experience
- Prior experience managing staff or running office operations strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
