The Position
As a Brake Press Machine Operator, you will play a key role in the fabrication process by setting up, adjusting, and operating brake press equipment to produce precision metal equipment. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality. You will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a high variety of parts and collaborate closely with team members across multiple shifts to ensure consistent production standards.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Operate Cincinnati brake press equipment to perform cutting, shaping, and bending of metal plates, sheets and structural shapes within fractional tolerances to build standard and special food service equipment as specified by shop drawing.
- Perform machine setups, tooling changes, and changeovers for a high mix of production jobs.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Conduct quality inspections using calipers, measuring tools, and other precision inspection equipment.
- Select appropriate tooling and verify machine setups to achieve required dimensions and tolerances.
- Troubleshoot production and quality issues using strong problem-solving techniques and root cause analysis.
- Demonstrate an understanding of brake press mechanics, material behavior, and how parts are formed during the bending process.
- Maintain accurate production records and communicate effectively with team members across shifts.
Qualifications and Candidate Background
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience operating brake press machines
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience using calipers, tape measures, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of tooling selection, machine setups, and quality inspection procedures.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
Location
This is a fulltime position in Sedalia, MO for A shift (Monday-Thursday).
