Operations Supervisor / Superintendent – Industrial Manufacturing & Production

Location: Sacramento, CA (100% On-Site)

Position Type: Full-Time, Hourly Non-Exempt

Schedule: Standard Day Shift (Single Shift, Monday – Friday)

Compensation: $31.25 – $43.27 / hr (Approx. $65k–$90k base annualized, depending on experience/turnaround capability) + Full Overtime Eligibility

About the Opportunity

Are you a proven floor supervisor or shift lead currently capped in a rigid, bureaucratic corporate structure? Are you ready to step into the #1 on-site operational leadership role at a major manufacturing facility with a direct track for executive advancement?

Talent Harbor has partnered with a premier, stable national manufacturer and distributor specializing in high-performance structural building materials and architectural metal systems (operating nationwide since 1974). We are seeking a hands-on, highly autonomous Operations Supervisor / Superintendent to take full ownership of our client's plant floor in Sacramento, CA.

Sacramento is our client's largest regional facility nationwide. Because regional executive management operates with multi-site oversight, you will serve as the primary tactical operational presence on-site. You will run back-office manufacturing, custom metal roll-forming, machinery utilization, and plant logistics like your own business.

We are looking for a 90% floor-first operator—someone who brings strong people skills, thrives on real-time line troubleshooting, and is motivated to earn a rapid promotion into executive site management (General Manager).

What You’ll Do Day-to-Day

  • Own the Plant Floor (90% Floor Presence): Direct daily metal roll-forming, custom fabrication, and component conversion lines to hit hard production targets and customer delivery deadlines.
  • Lead & Build the Team: Directly supervise, mentor, and coach an on-site crew of 10 to 20 hourly machine operators, fabricators, and material handlers. Drive a culture of high morale, safety, and daily accountability.
  • Master Real-Time Problem Solving: Step onto the floor to resolve daily operational friction—clearing material bottlenecks, managing staffing call-outs, adjusting machine setups, and minimizing downtime.
  • Oversee Assets & Machinery: Supervise preventive maintenance (PM) routines, asset utilization, and safe operation for specialized metal processing machinery, cutting tools, and industrial forklifts.
  • Drive Practical Data & 5S Discipline: Maintain accurate material tracking using a modern cloud-based ERP system, handheld RF scanners, and basic Microsoft Excel tracking without getting bogged down in administrative office work.

Note: This position completely owns back-office manufacturing, machinery, and plant logistics. Front-office administrative duties (such as customer invoicing and sales order entry) are managed separately.

What We’re Looking For

  • Frontline Manufacturing Experience: 3 to 5+ years of supervisory, shift lead, or superintendent experience directly on an industrial manufacturing, fabrication, metal-conversion, or heavy production floor.
  • Strong People Skills: Proven ability to manage a crew (10+ direct reports) with an approachable, collaborative, and accountable leadership style.
  • Hands-On Technical Aptitude: Comfort working around heavy machinery and a full willingness to step out of the office to operate equipment, run a forklift, or work alongside the team during peak operational runs.
  • Practical Tech Comfort: Basic computer literacy (comfortable using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, basic ERP entry, and handheld barcode scanners) without needing to be an IT/software expert.
  • Drive & Career Ambition: Motivated by site ownership and excited by a clear, merit-based career pathway into higher site leadership (General Manager track).
  • Reliability & Stability: A steady employment record showcasing professional growth, reliability, and long-term commitment.

Why You Should Apply

  • Highest On-Site Leadership & Fast-Track Growth: Run the plant floor with complete daily autonomy and direct visibility to executive leadership for rapid promotion.
  • Paid for Every Hour Worked: Shift parameters are stable, but unlike salaried supervisor positions expecting 50+ hours for zero extra pay, this role is strictly non-exempt and overtime-eligible
  • Industry Stability: Join a premier national manufacturer operating a robust multi-state network successfully for over 50 years.
