CNC Machinist
Location: Knoxville, TN (On-site) Job Type: Full-Time Pay Range: DOE
Shift Options
- 1st Shift: Monday–Thursday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM (4×10s)
- 2nd Shift: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 PM – 3:30 AM (4×10s)
- 3rd Shift: Friday–Sunday, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM (3×12s, paid for 40 hours)
- Overtime: As needed
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and advanced multi-axis equipment in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment. This role supports both production and engineering teams and requires strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading skills, and commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate advanced CNC equipment (4/5-axis mills, Swiss machines, lathes with live tooling)
- Run multi-axis machining operations to produce complex, high-precision parts
- Validate new setups and programs for pre-production and production runs
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and G/M code
- Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality standards
- Use precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators)
- Make offset adjustments to ensure parts meet specifications
- Support training and mentoring of junior machinists
- Follow all safety and quality protocols
Basic Qualifications
- 6+ years CNC machining experience (mills and lathes)
- Strong understanding of machining processes: turning, milling, drilling, threading
- Proficiency reading blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience with G & M codes
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- Ability to set up vertical/horizontal machining centers and turning centers
- Strong math and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with various materials in tight-tolerance environments
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Clear communication skills (verbal and written)
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certification or trade school training (preferred)
- 3+ years blueprint reading experience
- 3+ years leadership or training experience
- 3+ years safety compliance experience
- Valid driver's license
