Job description

TM Track Services, LLC is hiring Track Laborers to join our growing railroad construction and maintenance team.


We are looking for hard-working, dependable individuals who take pride in their work, show up on time, work safely, and are willing to travel when required. Railroad experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate. We are willing to train motivated individuals who want to learn the railroad industry and build a career with our company.


Job Responsibilities

Track Laborers will assist with railroad track construction, maintenance, and repair, including:

  • Removing and installing railroad ties
  • Driving and removing track spikes
  • Installing tie plates, anchors, bolts, and other track material
  • Adjusting and maintaining track gauge
  • Removing and replacing rail
  • Assisting with switches, turnouts, crossings, and other track components
  • Shoveling and handling ballast
  • Operating hydraulic and gas-powered track tools
  • Using spike mauls, lining bars, track jacks, impact tools, saws, drills, and other railroad tools
  • Assisting equipment operators during track construction and maintenance
  • Loading, unloading, and organizing railroad materials
  • Performing general excavation and site cleanup
  • Completing daily job briefings and following all railroad/customer safety requirements
  • Maintaining company tools, vehicles, and equipment
  • Performing other railroad construction and maintenance duties as assigned


Job Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a valid driver's license
  • Have reliable transportation to the designated shop or meeting location
  • Be able to pass required drug and alcohol testing
  • Be able to pass customer and railroad background requirements when applicable
  • Be willing to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other weather conditions
  • Be physically capable of performing demanding construction work
  • Be able to repeatedly lift and carry heavy materials and tools
  • Be comfortable working around heavy equipment and active railroad environments
  • Be willing to travel and stay out of town when projects require it
  • Be available for overtime, weekends, nights, and emergency work when necessary
  • Follow instructions and work effectively as part of a crew
  • Maintain a professional attitude while working at customer facilities


Preferred Experience


Experience in any of the following is a plus:

  • Railroad track maintenance or construction
  • Track labor
  • Railroad tie replacement
  • Rail replacement
  • Switch and turnout work
  • Welding or cutting
  • Heavy equipment
  • Excavation
  • Construction
  • Industrial maintenance
  • Landscaping or other physically demanding outdoor work

Previous railroad experience is NOT required for the right applicant.
