Step into a day at TC Millwork
It’s 7:30 AM and you’re reviewing a new set of shop drawings for a custom millwork project. You import the geometry into Alphacam, refine toolpaths for a 3‑axis program, and run backplot simulations to validate clearances. By mid‑morning, you’ve collaborated with engineering to resolve a tricky corner radius, updated setup sheets, and posted G‑code for the CNC. After lunch, you verify critical features against GD&T callouts, document inspection results, and fine‑tune feeds and speeds to keep cycle times lean without compromising quality. Before you leave, you tidy your workstation—because a clean, safe shop is part of your craft.
What you’ll do
- Create and optimize 3‑axis CNC programs in Alphacam for wood components and precision parts.
- Develop programs for CNC milling/routers using engineering specifications and shop drawings.
- Leverage CAD tools to build, adjust, and prepare manufacturable geometry.
- Apply GD&T in both programming and in‑process/first‑article inspections.
- Partner with engineering to troubleshoot machining issues and improve program performance.
- Maintain accurate documentation: setup sheets, tool lists, and inspection reports.
- Follow safety procedures and contribute to a clean, orderly work environment.
What you bring
- Hands‑on experience as a CNC Programmer in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong CAM programming skills and working knowledge of CAD.
- Solid math foundation for precise machining calculations.
- Comfort reading technical drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of GD&T (highly desirable).
- Detail‑driven mindset and a passion for high‑quality output.
- Problem‑solver who works well independently and within a team.
