Job description

Swope Health is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Executive Vice President of Dental Services to lead our Dental division through an exciting phase of growth and innovation. The EVP Of Dental Services reports directly to the President/CEO and supervises, directs, and participates in departmental activities to ensure efficient and effective operation and outcomes. Primary Functions: 

  • Supervises and directs the operations and the organization of the Dental Clinic, develops and monitors the dental departmental budget, interviews and hires dental personnel, checks credentials and evaluates work performance.
  • Responsible for clinical supervision of subordinate dental clinicians, hygienists, dental assistants, receptionist, appointment clerk and dental lab technicians.
  • Plans, develops and implements dental health care plans and objectives for preventive and service related clinical and community programs.                       
  • Regularly reviews dental practices, procedures and equipment, projects management needs and take necessary action to implement changes.
  • Reviews and interprets dental statistical data, develops, administers and reviews dental patient satisfaction surveys.
  • Serves as Chairperson for the Dental Quality Improvement team and uses information gathered to improve the quality of patient care.
  • Attend meetings and conferences, maintains liaisons with local, state and professional associations, schedules inservice training and continuing education for staff, schedules dental staff meetings.
  • Performs various professional dental procedures including examinations of patients to determine nature of injuries, diseases and malformations of teeth and related oral structures.
  • Cleans, fills, extracts and replaces teeth using rotary, hand and surgical instruments, dental appliances and medications.
  • Supervises the operation, processing and development of radiological equipment and film.  Supervises dental procedures performed by the dental hygienist and dental associates.
  • Performs regular review of fee schedules to keep them current with changing prices and prevailing fees within the dental community.
  • Must be available for patient/employee consultations and confrontations.
  • Responsible for maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies.
  • Develops administrative time schedules to ensure adequate staff coverage and patient scheduling.
  • Regularly reviews and monitors contracts and agreements with other agencies and the Dental Department.
  • Reviews insurance claims and initiates processing for third party payments.
  • As Manager, authorizes users and ensures computer security.
  • Organizes, schedules and participates in after-hours rotation for handling emergency calls.
  • Coordinates and oversees infection control surveillance, prevention, and control measures.  Responsible for data collection, evaluation and follow-up.  Identification and analysis of disease processes, provides training and education, reviews and updates policies and procedures.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Graduated from an accredited school of dentistry
  • Master’s in public health or a minimum of 3 years of public health experience.
  • At least 3 years management experience in a healthcare setting. 
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
