Job description

Job Overview

The Operations Manager is responsible for all facets of the administrative operations of the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy (ISD), to include ISD's communications and outreach activities, e.g. website, social media, and newsletters; events planning and management; office management; and supervision of student employees. The Operations Manager provides administrative support to the ISD Director and other senior staff, to the diplomatic and defense fellows, and to ISD's academic and research programs.

Work Interactions

The Operations Manager reports directly to the Director of ISD, and works closely with senior staff, Assistant Director of Studies, and the Business Manager/Academic Coordinator to support the mission and programs of the Institute.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of professional experience related to operations management, office management, events, communications and outreach, or closely related fields required

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Must have clear professional work ethic, initiative, strong organizational and time/task management skills, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects independently from start to finish

  • Must have the ability to develop productive networks across SFS and the University with offices with whom ISD interacts, as well as outside partners

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills are essential

  • Demonstrated interest in international affairs is preferred.

  • Proficiencies in technologies and software related to duties of the position, such as Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Adobe InDesign, Canvas, Box, and Excel database management, are required

  • Competence in graphic design strongly desired

Pay Range:

The projectedsalary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$44,022.00 - $73,406.80

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
