Job description

ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Chemical Technician to install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot chemical monitoring, transfer, mixing, and control systems for etching and electropolishing operations. This role will support chemical hygiene, chemical use, instrumentation, and control systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and mix chemical process baths to specified concentrations and volumes
  • Operate and maintain chemical processing systems, including etching and electropolishing systems, acid recirculation skids, and ultrapure water (UPW) rinse stations
  • Monitor and adjust process parameters (bath temperature, flow rate, acid concentration, electropolish current/voltage) to maintain processes within documented process specifications
  • Handle, store, transfer, and dispose of hazardous chemicals (hydrofluoric acid, nitric acid, phosphoric acid, and sulfuric acid) in accordance with the chemical hygiene plan and procedures
  • Maintain chemical inventory, labeling, secondary containment, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS); track usage and expiration of process chemicals
  • Neutralize and manage chemical waste streams per applicable environmental regulations and facility waste-handling procedures
  • Execute written chemical processing procedures with strict adherence to sequence, timing, and documented process steps
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting of chemical delivery systems, pumps, valves, and chemically compatible process piping
  • Select, use, and maintain personal protective equipment for hazardous chemical exposure
  • Document processing runs, chemical usage, and process deviations; maintain accurate batch/traveler records
  • Collaborate with chemists, physicists, chemical engineers, and other technicians on chemical processing scheduling, troubleshooting, and process improvement
  • Follow lockout/tagout, electrical safety, chemical safety, and general safety procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Associate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Environmental Health & Safety, or equivalent military/technical training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience handling and processing with industrial or laboratory-grade acids and chemicals
  • Working knowledge of chemical hygiene practices, PPE selection and use, and emergency response procedures for hazardous chemical exposure
  • Experience with wet chemical processing equipment (pumps, flow meters, recirculation systems, temperature control, pH monitoring) used in etching, plating, cleaning, or electropolishing operations
  • Familiarity with chemical waste handling, neutralization, and disposal regulations
  • Ability to read and follow detailed written chemical processing procedures/SOPs, P&IDs, and accurately complete process documentation
  • Basic proficiency with process instrumentation (pH meters, conductivity meters, thermocouples, flow meters)

BENEFITS

We offer health, dental, and vision insurance.
