Job description

Staff Surveyor (RPLS) - Texas
STV is looking for a motivated Staff Surveyor (RPLS) to join our growing Texas survey team. This is a great opportunity for a licensed survey professional who wants to work on meaningful transportation, utility, municipal, land development, and infrastructure projects while continuing to grow with a collaborative, well-established team. This role offers flexibility to be based in any STV Texas office and provides the chance to build a rewarding career in professional surveying while supporting projects that help shape communities and infrastructure across the state.
Why STV?
At STV, you will be part of a team that values technical excellence, innovation, mentorship, and long-term career growth. You will have the opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects across Texas, use modern survey technology, and partner with experienced surveyors, engineers, and project teams who are invested in helping you succeed.
What You'll Do
  • Support a wide variety of survey assignments, including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, right-of-way, utility, construction, route, and as-built surveys for transportation, municipal, utility, and infrastructure projects.
  • Collect, process, and verify survey data using GPS/GNSS, robotic total stations, digital levels, data collectors, and other modern survey equipment.
  • Prepare clear field notes, sketches, documentation, and project records that support accurate, high-quality deliverables.
  • Import field data and assist with survey deliverables using tools such as Trimble Business Center, Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, MicroStation, and related software.
  • Help establish survey control, support construction layout, and verify existing site conditions for active project teams.
  • Assist with plats, legal descriptions, easement exhibits, right-of-way mapping, and survey calculations.
  • Perform quality checks to help ensure survey data and deliverables meet project requirements, client expectations, and STV quality standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, CAD technicians, field crews, and geospatial professionals to keep projects moving forward.
  • Promote safe work practices and follow company safety procedures in both field and office environments.
  • Continue building your technical knowledge of surveying principles, industry standards, and emerging survey technologies.

What You'll Bring
  • Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) licensed in Texas, or the ability to obtain Texas licensure through reciprocity within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • 2-5 years of experience as a licensed professional supporting transportation, municipal, utility, land development, or infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Working knowledge of survey principles, coordinate systems, field procedures, and data collection methods.
  • Experience with GPS/GNSS receivers, robotic total stations, digital levels, electronic data collectors, or similar survey equipment.
  • Familiarity with Trimble Business Center, Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, MicroStation, Microsoft Office, or similar surveying software.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both field and office environments while adapting to changing project priorities.
  • A collaborative communication style, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work for clients and project teams.

Compensation Range:
$130,962.60 - $149,671.54
STV offers the following benefits • Health insurance, including an option with a Health Savings Account • Dental insurance • Vision insurance • Flexible Spending Accounts (Healthcare, Dependent Care and Transit and Parking where applicable) • Disability insurance • Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment • 401(k) Plan • Retirement Counseling • Employee Assistance Program • Paid Time Off (starting at 16 days) • Paid Holidays (9 days) • Back-Up Dependent Care (up to 10 days per year) • Parental Leave (up to 80 hours) • Continuing Education Program • Professional Licensure and Society Memberships
STV is committed to paying all of its employees in a fair, equitable, and transparent manner. The listed pay range is STV's good-faith salary estimate for this position. Please note that the final salary offered for this position may be outside of this published range based on many factors, including but not limited to geography, education, experience, and/or certifications.
Not sure this role is the perfect match? We encourage you to apply if STV's work and values resonate with you. We know great candidates don't always meet every qualification, and research shows women and people of color are less likely to apply unless they do. At STV, we believe strong talent comes from a wide range of backgrounds, and your skills and experience may align with this or another opportunity as we continue to grow.
