Job description

Position Summary

The Sturgeon R-V School District is accepting applications for a 8-12 Agricultural Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The applicant serves as the FFA advisor. It is a 12 month position. Sturgeon operates on a four day school week and provides board paid health and life insurance. Candidates must hold the appropriate certification in the areas of instruction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Teach a range of agriculture courses aligned to state standards (e.g., Ag Science, Animal Science, Plant Science, Ag Business, etc.)
  • Serve as the advisor for the FFA chapter, including organizing meetings, supervising activities, and preparing students for contests and events
  • Develop and maintain a strong Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program for students
  • Create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that connect classroom content to real-world agricultural applications
  • Manage and maintain agriculture facilities in a safe and organized manner
  • Collaborate with staff through PLCs to align curriculum, pacing, and assessments
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and community partners
  • Support student involvement in leadership development, competitions, and community service opportunities
  • Uphold school expectations for classroom management, student engagement, and academic accountability


Qualifications

  • Valid Missouri teaching certificate in Agriculture Education (or ability to obtain)
  • Knowledge of agricultural content areas and current industry practices
  • Willingness to serve as FFA advisor and support student activities beyond the school day
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and community members
