Clinical Director
Stonebridge Counseling
Sacramento, CA (Hybrid)

Compensation: $120,000/ yr
Health insurance • 100% employer-paid dental & vision • Retirement match
About Stonebridge
Stonebridge Counseling is building a different kind of mental health organization.
We are a trauma-informed, somatically grounded group practice integrating deep clinical work with sustainable systems, meaningful community, and thoughtful organizational development.
Our work emphasizes:
  • Nervous system regulation
  • Parts and dissociation literacy
  • Developmental and attachment-oriented thinking
  • Dual awareness and embodied presence
  • Integration over modality silos

We care deeply about both:
  • the quality of clinical care
    and
  • the quality of life of the clinicians providing it.

We are actively developing training systems, strengthening leadership infrastructure, and building an organization designed to support long-term clinical depth rather than burnout and fragmentation.
The Role
We are seeking a Clinical Director who is both clinically sophisticated and operationally grounded.
This is a leadership role for someone who:
  • understands complex trauma work deeply
  • can think systemically
  • brings steadiness and follow-through
  • is capable of helping a growing organization mature without becoming rigid or impersonal

This role has meaningful operational responsibility and significant influence on the clinical culture and functioning of the organization.
You will help ensure that:
  • clinicians feel supported and well-held
  • supervisors remain aligned and effective
  • documentation and compliance systems remain strong
  • operational breakdowns are identified early and addressed clearly
  • the clinical side of the organization functions with coherence and integrity

Clinical Lens
Our clinical lens is trauma-informed and somatically grounded, prioritizing nervous system awareness, parts and dissociation literacy, and the cultivation of dual awareness as the foundation for clinically effective and developmentally attuned care.
We are integrationalists rather than modality purists and value clinicians who can think critically, relationally, and developmentally in complex clinical situations.
Core Responsibilities
Clinical Operations & Systems Leadership
  • Support stability and consistency across the clinical organization
  • Identify workflow, communication, or systems breakdowns and ensure follow-through
  • Help operationalize and reinforce the organization's clinical framework
  • Support development of sustainable clinical systems and processes

Supervisor Leadership & Clinical Alignment
  • Support and oversee contracted clinical supervisors
  • Maintain consistency in supervision expectations and clinical standards
  • Provide consultation on complex, high-risk, or systems-impacting cases
  • Identify patterns of drift, inconsistency, or clinician support concerns

Documentation, Compliance & Revenue Integrity
  • Monitor documentation quality and audit readiness
  • Support clinicians in effectively utilizing AI-assisted documentation systems
  • Identify documentation trends contributing to payer denials or compliance concerns
  • Coordinate with operations and billing regarding denial patterns and workflow issues
  • Support organizational readiness for audits and payer review

Clinician Experience & Development
  • Support onboarding, integration, and clinician development
  • Maintain visible relational presence across teams
  • Identify patterns impacting morale, retention, or clinician functioning
  • Help cultivate a connected and growth-oriented clinical culture

Hiring & Team Development
  • Participate in clinical hiring alongside Program Managers
  • Assess both clinical sophistication and developmental capacity
  • Support successful integration of new clinicians into the organization

Supervision Responsibilities
  • Maintain a caseload of up to six supervisees
  • Provide weekly in-person group supervision in Sacramento

Ideal Fit
You are someone who:
  • Thinks systemically while remaining deeply human
  • Understands trauma beyond surface-level modality language
  • Can bring steadiness without rigidity
  • Supports innovative practice
  • Values both clinical depth and operational clarity
  • Enjoys helping clinicians grow and organizations mature
  • Is energized by building something meaningful rather than maintaining the status quo

You likely have experience navigating:
  • complexity
  • ambiguity
  • organizational growth
  • emotionally demanding clinical systems

...without becoming reactive, overly rigid, or disconnected relationally.
Qualifications
  • Licensed LCSW strongly preferred (LMFT/LPCC considered)
  • Eligible to supervise associates in California
  • 3+ years post-licensure experience
  • Experience supervising clinicians
  • Experience in leadership, program development, or clinical operations
  • Strong documentation and compliance knowledge
  • Strong clinical judgment and ethical grounding
  • Comfortable operating within evolving systems and organizational growth

Why This Role Is Different
This is not a high-volume corporate environment or a static agency role.
This is an opportunity to help shape:
  • clinical culture
  • supervision quality
  • operational maturity
  • training systems
  • and the long-term evolution of an organization attempting to do things differently and thoughtfully.

The right person for this role will have meaningful influence and room for growth as the organization continues to develop.
