Job description

DESCRIPTION
The Welder is responsible for fabricating and assembling metal components by interpreting blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to produce high-quality welds that meet SteelBlue's standards. This position performs welding operations, prepares materials, inspects completed work, and ensures all products are built safely, accurately, and efficiently.
The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to safety, quality, and meeting production expectations. The Welder plays an important role in supporting SteelBlue's manufacturing operations by producing reliable, durable products while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform MIG welding and fabrication of metal components according to specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and production drawings.
  • Set up welding equipment and adjust settings based on material and job requirements.
  • Inspect welds for accuracy, strength, and quality standards.
  • Measure and verify dimensions using tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools.
  • Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, cleaning, and fitting components.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Meet production goals while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Communicate any issues related to safety, quality, equipment, or production to leadership.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Previous welding or fabrication experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and work instructions.
  • Experience with MIG welding preferred.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools and welding equipment.
  • Strong work ethic with a focus on urgency, teamwork, and quality.
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and work in a manufacturing environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move materials as required.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
