Job description

Stark County Educational Service Center
NEW Substitute Educational Aide/ParaPro (2026-27 School Year)
Employer: Stark County Educational Service Center and/or individual Stark County School Districts
Responsible to: Stark County ESC school district(s) Principal
Salary Range: Daily rate
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma required
  • Valid Educational Aide Permit with ESEA endorsement or valid Ohio substitute or teacher license, issued by the Ohio State Board of Education
  • Completed online application including references, updated annually
  • Agree to authorize Stark County ESC to conduct/obtain a criminal history background check/fingerprinting.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a public or private school classroom
  • Ability to work with children and parents in a public school setting
  • Experience working with childen who have disabilities

Job Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Work with teachers, parents, and related services staff in the following types of classrooms:
    • Preschool students who are typically developing and/or those needing special services
    • Elementary through High School students with multiple disabilities, emotional disabilities, and/or autism
  • Assist in the management of the classroom in compliance with district and State of Ohio rules
  • Assist in maintaining a conducive learning environment free of health and safety hazards
  • Work with student(s) both individually and in small groups to promote learning and skills initially introduced by the teacher
  • Support a program which enables the child to reach his/her fullest physical, emotional, psychological, and behavioral potential
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a consistent pattern of positive work habits and personal traits:
    • Punctuality, promptness, accuracy, and thoroughness.
    • Adaptability, dependability, and initiative.
    • Loyalty, courtesy, and professional appearance.
    • Ability to work well with others.
  • Perform additional duties as may be assigned by the county superintendent or his/her designee
  • Comply with the policies of the board and regulations of the Stark County Educational Service Center and individual school district procedures.
