This is an exciting time to be joining Delta Star!
We are Delta Star! The largest, American-owned medium power transformer manufacturer in the United States and the premier manufacturer of mobile transformers and mobile power substations in North America.
We are an industry-leader that has harnessed the power of electricity to reliably connect you to an essential part of modern-day life. Giving you the peace of mind you deserve to go out and make the world a better place!
Summary
Delta Star Inc. is seeking a driven and innovative Industrial Project Engineer to lead continuous improvement and capital investment initiatives within our manufacturing plant. If you're passionate about optimizing processes, enhancing equipment reliability, and driving operational excellence, we want to hear from you!
What You'll Do
As an Industrial Project Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of technical and process improvement projects that elevate safety, sustainability, and efficiency. You'll collaborate across departments to plan, execute, and deliver impactful solutions that align with plant goals and support our Operational Excellence roadmap.
A Day in the Life
Your day will be filled with dynamic challenges, from designing technical solutions and managing CapEx projects to analyzing performance data and supporting cross-functional teams. You'll lead project planning, coordinate with vendors, and ensure seamless execution of upgrades and installations. Whether you're optimizing layouts or developing specialized tooling, your work will directly contribute to a safer, more efficient, and more reliable operation.
Specific Duties
  • Lead CapEx and CI projects from concept through completion, ensuring alignment with plant objectives.
  • Manage project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder communications.
  • Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to ensure safe, high-quality execution.
  • Oversee commissioning, validation, and training for new equipment and upgrades.
  • Define technical requirements and collaborate with operators to implement optimal solutions.
  • Design and execute improvements to enhance equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency.
  • Optimize workshop layouts and process flows using 5S, ergonomics, and EHS standards.
  • Develop specialized tooling and manage fabrication activities.
  • Prepare technical documentation, drawings, and specifications for procurement.
  • Provide technical support to Production and Maintenance teams for complex repairs and upgrades.
  • Analyze equipment performance, cycle times, and bottlenecks to drive data-informed decisions.
  • Promote standardization, problem-solving, and visual management tools.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS, quality, and regulatory standards throughout all project phases.

What We're Looking For
We're seeking a proactive and detail-oriented engineer with a strong technical foundation and a passion for continuous improvement.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent technical experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing engineering, including project management.
  • Proven experience with CapEx planning and execution.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and CI methodologies.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and Inventor (3D) or equivalent design software.
  • Familiarity with CMMS software (INTERAL or similar).
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Collaborative team player with initiative, adaptability, and attention to detail.
  • Fluency in English required; bilingual in French or Spanish preferred depending on site (DSE/DIW: English; DSN: English/French; DSW: English/Spanish).
  • Must live or be willing to relocate within a safe, reasonable commute to the assigned plant location.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer for U.S.-based positions.

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong understanding of industrial processes and production equipment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and produce technical drawings and documentation.
  • Experience with risk analysis (FMEA) and root cause problem-solving.
  • Skilled in managing contractors and external vendors.
  • Effective multitasking and time management abilities.

Why Join Us?
At Delta Star, you'll be part of a supportive and forward-thinking team that values professionalism, efficiency, and exceptional service. We offer a comprehensive benefits package to support you and your family, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. We also provide a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and a corporate bonus plan.
You'll enjoy paid time off, sick pay, floating holidays, and access to flexible spending accounts and consumer benefits. Additionally, we provide a benefit bank, a wellness center to support your health and well-being, and education assistance to help you grow in your career. At Delta Star, we're committed to helping you thrive both personally and professionally.
