St. Brendan Catholic High School in Miami, Florida seeks a Director of Facilities . The Director of Facilities is responsible for but not limited to overseeing daily school operations, safety, and facility maintenance. The Director of Facilities performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Essential Functions:
Operations and Facilities
- Oversee the physical plant for daily school operations and school safety.
- Supervise the work of contractors, vendors and service providers for the school.
- Oversee the maintenance of all school facilities, including the routine inspection of the grounds, installations, and equipment to determine necessary repairs, maintenance or replacement.
- Manage the team of maintenance staff and ensure their performance and development, set expectations and work to keep them motivated and engaged.
- Plan and direct building and grounds improvements to ensure the facility's appearance positively reflects and enhances the school in the community.
- Plan and schedule work with minimal interruption to business and communicate any transportation and related interruptions to employees and community.
- Manage the running of utilities, including water, power, HVAC, and their dependent mechanical and electrical systems.
- Manage electrical power systems and consult with IT staff or service providers to ensure that facilities' power meet demands and new specifications as needed with changing technology.
- Work with the principal and Director of Student Affairs to plan and implement policies and procedures to provide for security of buildings and grounds.
- Work with the principal to ensure that systems are in place for business continuity in the event of interruption.
- Work with the Director of Student Affairs to manage all security measures and systems.
- Perform cost-benefit analysis and determine which facilities operations are best contracted to third-party service providers.
- Oversee and direct disposal of waste, including chemical waste, according to federal, state and local stipulations.
- Purchase building and maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Work to forecast and supply future needs.
- Review the school calendar regularly and collaborate with the appropriate personnel to plan, schedule, and facilitate the setup of all activities and events.
- Ensure that a designated team member is available for support during all scheduled activities and events that take place after school hours.
- Research, source, and manage the ordering of furniture, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with budgetary and operational needs.
- Support the safety and supervision of students during school hours by working with security personnel to manage traffic on campus.
- Review work upon completion of each job to ensure that installed components, repairs and built projects are functioning according to expectations.
- Responsible for any other task assigned by the Principal.
Construction and New Projects:
- Responsible for construction of new facilities, maintenance, landscaping, cleaning/janitorial services.
- Work with the ADOM's Building and Property Office to secure necessary permits for work.
- Solicit, bid, negotiate, prepare and administer contracts, obtaining best value for cost, and maintain relationship with contracting service providers.
- Maintain plans, blueprints, records of sales and usage activity, special permits issued, insurance policies, and other facilities-related documents.
- Perform tasks to accomplish special projects (building, reallocation of office space and furniture, etc.) according to work orders.
- Complete tasks according to appropriate specifications, standards/best work practices and within scheduled parameters, keeping the Principal apprised of progress, notifying him/her of delays.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university, preferred.
- 2 years' experience.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for Catholic education and commitment to the mission of St. Brendan High School.
- Must have a professional demeanor, including adherence to dress code.
