Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments and diagnostic evaluations to understand clients' mental health needs and establish a basis for effective intervention.
• Provide individualized one-on-one counseling sessions, assisting clients in managing conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance use disorders.
• Deliver group therapy sessions, fostering a supportive atmosphere where clients can share experiences and coping strategies related to common challenges.
• Design and implement tailored treatment plans with specific goals and strategies, ensuring that each client’s unique concerns and backgrounds are addressed.
• Actively support clients during crises by conducting real-time risk assessments, providing immediate intervention, and liaising with emergency services when necessary.
• Engage in continuous professional education and training to stay informed about the latest methodologies, therapies, and best practices in mental health care.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists and social workers, to enhance clients' treatment experiences and outcomes.

Qualifications

• A master's degree or doctoral degree in counseling, psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Valid licensure as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York State, meeting all state-defined requirements for practice.
• At least three years of supervised clinical experience post-education, demonstrating a solid foundation in therapeutic techniques and interventions.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect and empathize with clients, fostering a therapeutic alliance.
• Capability to perform comprehensive mental health assessments and write clear, actionable treatment plans.

Preferred Experience

• Additional certifications in specialized areas, such as trauma-informed care, addiction counseling, or family therapy, are highly valued.

Compensation and Benefits
