South Portland, ME, USA | Medical | Full Time

The Spurwink Center for Safe and Healthy Families, located in South Portland, Maine is seeking a full-time BC/BE Child Abuse Pediatrician to serve as the Medical Director of a well-established child abuse clinic.

The Physician will join a team of two full-time NPs and one full-time CAP as well as Psychologists, and Social Workers. The Center is co-located with the Cumberland County Children's Advocacy Center.

DUTIES:

  • Perform medical evaluations for physical and sexual abuse both inpatient and outpatient.

  • Perform outpatient comprehensive health.assessments of children in Southern Maine newly entering foster care.

  • Conduct inpatient medical consultations at Barbara Bush Children's Hospital in Portland.

  • Conduct remote inpatient consultations at other children's hospitals in Maine.

  • Train medical students, residents, and community partners on recognizing and responding to child maltreatment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience and Education Required : Medical degree from an accredited school of medicine; successful completion of residency in the practice of general psychiatry, with subspecialty training in child psychiatry preferred. Board certification in primary specialty area & current State of Maine licensure required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Necessary : At least five (5) years of experience working with people with chronic and severe mental illness. Documented ability to relate in a positive manner with patients, co-workers, and community providers. Documented supervisory and clinical management skills necessary to develop, supervise, and motivate staff in the day-to-day clinical operations of a program.
