Job description

OSP Fiber Splicer (Ribbon / Loose Tube)
Location:Tampa, FL
Schedule: Rotating Day and Night Shift
Company Vehicle Provided for travel to site
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced OSP Fiber Splicer to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and restoration of fiber optic networks. This position requires advanced ribbon and loose-tube splicing experience, strong troubleshooting capabilities, and the ability to work independently in both planned and emergency response situations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of OSP fiber networks, be comfortable working with buried infrastructure, and possess the technical skills necessary to diagnose issues, interpret network documentation, and complete high-quality splice work in demanding field environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform ribbon and loose-tube fiber splicing on OSP fiber networks.
  • Conduct fiber restoration and troubleshooting activities on existing networks.
  • Perform mid-span access on fiber cables and install drops as required.
  • Build and maintain splice enclosures and fiber distribution points.
  • Read and interpret network designs, splice diagrams, construction drawings, and fiber assignment documentation.
  • Conduct OTDR testing, fault isolation, and fiber certification testing.
  • Complete transfer tube work and enclosure modifications.
  • Support maintenance and emergency restoration activities as part of an on-call rotation.
  • Maintain accurate splice records, test documentation, and as-built information.
  • Operate company vehicle safely and professionally.
  • Work closely with operations, engineering, and project teams to ensure network reliability and project completion.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of OSP fiber splicing experience.
  • Advanced experience with ribbon fiber and loose-tube splicing.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault isolation capabilities.
  • Experience performing mid-span access and drop installations.
  • Ability to read network designs, splice matrices, and fiber documentation.
  • Experience working with buried fiber infrastructure.
  • Experience with OTDR testing and fiber certification.
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
  • REAL ID compliant.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Ability to work both day and night shifts as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with buried and aerial fiber construction.
  • Experience supporting carrier, ISP, utility, or enterprise fiber networks.
  • FOA, ETA, or manufacturer fiber certifications.
  • Confined Space Certification.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.

Interview Process
Qualified candidates should expect both a technical interview and hands-on skills assessment. The skills evaluation may include splice enclosure construction, mid-span access, drop installation, transfer tube work, and troubleshooting exercises.
