Data Engineering Competency Lead

The Data Engineering Competency Lead is a senior leadership role responsible for driving excellence across the data engineering discipline. This individual will lead a team of talented data engineers, set strategic direction, ensure adoption of best practices, and build organizational capability to deliver secure, scalable, and high-impact data solutions. The role requires strong technical expertise, people leadership, and a passion for advancing data engineering standards across the organization.

About The Team

You will be part of the Digital Engineering Services team at iOPEX which is a new-generation Digital Service Solution Provider, transforming the way businesses operate in a digitally connected world. Role & Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and guidance for the development of robust, automated data pipelines and management processes across the data engineering function. Set and execute the strategic vision for data engineering, aligning with business goals and continuously improving delivery and innovation. Lead the end-to-end data development lifecycle, including data ingestion, cleansing, validation, transformation, curation, and presentation. Oversee and optimize data architecture, ensuring data quality, security, and scalability. Mentor, coach, and develop data engineers, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and professional growth. Embed industry best practices and modern engineering techniques, driving adoption of agile and DevOps methodologies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data science, analytics, IT, business stakeholders) to deliver integrated data solutions and enable data-driven decision-making.

Skills Required

10+ years' experience working on complex data projects including migrations, integrations, data architecture and data governance. Experienced technology leader with extensive Data Quality, Data Management, Data Security, Data Governance skills. Solid experience in Data Integration - ETL(Informatica, DataStage, Talend, AbInitio), Data Lakes such as Snowflake, Azure Data Lake etc, Data Warehouse, Databricks, Cloud migrations. Data Governance - data quality and privacy, metadata management, data stewardship. Data Catalog - traceability, data dictionary & lineage. Master Data Management (MDM) - Reltio, Stibo, Riversand, etc. Unified Data Architecture for data fabric for agentic AI (WDF for ServiceNow, Mulesoft, Infa for Salesforce, Azure DF, Boomi, etc.) Business Intelligence, Analytics & Visualization - Qlik, Tableau, Cognos, Microstrategy, PowerBI, etc. Data Science - R, Python, Pi-spark, Data in Rest & Motion (Kafka, Confluent, etc).

Compensation And Benefits

iOPEX compensation package for the role includes a Base Salary plus a Bonus component linked to performance. Performance will be measured based on the KRAs and performance bonus will be processed every 6 months. Eligible for 12 Casual and 14 planned leaves post confirmation as per company policy.
