Job description

About Soul Soirée

Soul Soirée is a live entertainment brand built to elevate Black voices and bring community together through art and storytelling. Our signature event, The Monologue Slam, is the largest recurring performing arts event for the BIPOC arts community in NYC — a high-energy theatrical experience featuring original and published works before a live audience of 750+.

About the Role

We're seeking a creative, culturally-plugged-in Social Media & Engagement Intern to help bring Soul Soirée's story to life across our digital platforms. You'll assist with content strategy, trend research, and real-time community engagement — working directly with our team to keep our audience connected to everything we're building.

Responsibilities

  • Assess social media trends and translate them into creative content ideas
  • Draft and schedule Instagram captions, Reels, and Stories
  • Ideate original content for upcoming events and campaigns
  • Respond to audience engagement, comments, and DMs
  • Support live event coverage and behind-the-scenes content capture
  • Help finalize and maintain the content calendar

  • Qualifications

    • Strong understanding of social media trends, formats, and platform behavior
    • Excellent writing skills with a sharp, culture-aware voice
    • Comfortable with content tools (Canva, CapCut, or similar)
    • Detail-oriented and able to work around live event deadlines

    Internship Details

    • Duration: 3 months, with potential to transition into paid contract work
    • Hours: 8–10 hours/week
    • Compensation: Unpaid, with a stipend provided through our November Monologue Slam event
    • Past Soul Soirée interns have gone on to full-time roles elsewhere in the industry, building directly on the work and portfolio they developed here
