Solaris HealthCare is seeking a highly motivated andexperienced Regional Health Information Manager to support and optimize healthinformation management (HIM) practices across our network of skilled nursingfacilities in Florida. This critical role ensures compliance with allapplicable regulations, maintains data integrity, and supports the delivery ofhigh-quality patient care.
Position Summary:TheRegional Health Information Manager will provide leadership and guidance tofacility-level HIM staff, ensuring consistent implementation of companypolicies and procedures related to medical record documentation, coding,billing, privacy, security, and release of information. This position requiresa deep understanding of skilled nursing facility operations, regulatoryrequirements, and best practices in health information management
- Oversight of HIM Operations: Support HIM staff at multiple facilities within the region, providing training and mentorship. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to record accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all federal and state regulations, including HIPAA, CMS guidelines, and state-specific requirements related to medical record documentation and privacy. Stay abreast of changes in regulations and update policies and procedures accordingly.
- Policy and Procedure Development: Collaborate on development and implementation of standardized HIM policies and procedures across the region, ensuring consistency and best practices. Collaborate with other departments to integrate HIM processes effectively.
- Data Integrity and Quality: Implement quality assurance measures to ensure the accuracy and completeness of medical records. Monitor documentation practices and provide feedback to staff to improve data quality.
- Coding and Billing Support: Provide guidance and support to facility staff on coding and billing procedures, ensuring accurate and compliant claims submission. Stay current with coding updates and guidelines.
- Release of Information: Support the appropriate and timely release of medical information, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) Management: Collaborate with IT and other stakeholders to optimize the use of the EHR system. Provide training and support to staff on EHR functionality and best practices.
- Audits and Reviews: Conduct regular audits of medical records to identify potential compliance issues and areas for improvement. Develop and implement corrective action plans as needed.
- Training and Education: Provide ongoing training and education to facility staff on HIM-related topics, including documentation, coding, privacy, and security.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with facility administrators, medical directors, nursing staff, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless HIM operations. Communicate regularly with regional and corporate leadership on key issues and performance metrics.
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification preferred.
- Deep understanding of federal and state regulations related to medical record documentation, privacy, and security (HIPAA, CMS guidelines, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of medical coding systems (ICD-10, CPT) and billing procedures.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel to facilities within the region.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in health information management, preferably in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.
