Job description

Quality Lab Technician

We are looking for a detail-oriented Quality Lab Technician that has a minimum of 3 years experience in Rockwell Hardness Testing and Preforming Tensile Tests.

The ideal candidate will have a background in fastener manufacturing.

To be successful as a Quality Lab Technician, you should have excellent communication and listening skills, with strong observational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. You should be familiar with ISO9001 and ISO 17025 Accreditations.

Quality Lab Technician Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality of our products.
  • Perform all required testing per relevant specifications
  • Inspecting the final output, comparing it to the requirements, and approving or rejecting the final products.
  • Keeping accurate documentation and performing statistical analysis.


  • Quality Lab Technician Requirements:
  • 3 years minimum work experience.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, observation, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality control procedures
  • Coordinate testing of finished and semi-finished sample specimens to determine if metallurgical, physical properties and dimensional features meet manufacturing specifications.
  • Review test reports to determine if physical characteristics of sample specimens meet metallurgical specifications and quality control standards.
  • Investigate causes of defective material and advise supervisory personnel of the production departments or sublet vendors responsible for processing defects.
  • Investigate causes of erroneous testing and issue corrective action notices.
  • Responsible for ensuring all laboratory practices and policies are adhered to.
  • Assist in Calibration (internally or externally) of all measuring instruments used in our plant.

Periodic Job Functions:

  • Assist in our A2LA and ISO Certification process.

Additional Duties:

  • Address all issues with a sense of urgency and responsiveness.

  • Participate in relevant continuing education programs as identified or proposed by executive management.
  • Comply with all company policies, instructions and directions to fulfill company objectives.

Communication skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents.

  • Ability to work with ratios, percentages, fractions and proportions.
  • Reasoning skills
  • Ability to define and solve problems.
  • Ability to collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions based on those facts.

Specific Requirements:

  • Ability to use Hardness Testers, Tensile Testing Machines, Outside Micrometers, Depth Misc., Calipers, 6” or 12” scale screwdrivers, wrenches pliers and Optical Comparator, dial indicator and snap gages.
  • Ability to use in-house computer systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
