Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Smog Technician role based in Rancho Cordova, CA. The Smog Technician performs California-certified smog inspections on a variety of vehicles, ensuring all tests comply with state regulations and standards. Day-to-day tasks include operating emissions testing equipment, recording and interpreting test results, and completing required documentation accurately. The role also involves interacting with customers, explaining inspection outcomes, and answering basic questions about the process. The technician is expected to maintain a clean and safe work area, follow all safety protocols, and collaborate with team members to ensure efficient shop operations.

Qualifications

  • State of California Smog Technician license or certification.
  • Knowledge of vehicle emissions systems, basic automotive diagnostics, and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to operate smog testing equipment and related software with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills for working with a diverse customer base.
  • Commitment to safety practices, including proper handling of equipment and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, work in a shop environment, and perform light physical tasks as needed.
  • Previous experience in automotive service, inspection, or related fields is preferred but not required.
  • Reliable transportation, punctuality, and willingness to work a consistent full-time schedule.
